I thought it was worth scanning the entire magazine and posting it here. It gives such a rich flavour of the post-war world, a style and ethos which continued well into the '50s. As well as the broader cultural interest, the illustrations and typography are worth a particularly good look. For all that they often strike one as comical now, the illustrations are by and large high quality and skilful. The typography, especially in the titles and banners, employs an extraordinary range of fonts and layouts. Quite austere sans serif fonts appear side by side with extravagantly curvy ones, full of curlicues and flourishes.
In a contemporary world where nearly everything is presented in full colour, the limited use of colour in My Home (inside/outside covers and centre-fold) give it tremendous impact. The advertisements inside the front and back cover and outside back cover are each little masterpieces and have certainly stood the test of time. The illustrated cover is a peach.
